BARCELONA — Robert Lewandowski will leave Barcelona at the end of his contract this summer, the international footballer announced on Instagram. His final home game for the club will be against Real Betis at the Spotify Camp Nou on Sunday.

Lewandowski joined Barcelona from Bayern Munich in 2022 and scored 119 goals in 191 games for the club. He helped the club win three La Liga titles, including the current season, as well as the 2025 Copa del Rey.

"After four years full of challenges and hard work, it's time to move on," Lewandowski said on Instagram. "I leave with the feeling that the mission is complete. Four seasons, three championships."

Lewandowski started only 15 league games this season due to a number of injuries. He scored in the 2-1 win at Osasuna earlier in the month and made a late appearance in the Clasico victory over Real Madrid that confirmed Barcelona as league champions. Barcelona will end their campaign the following Saturday at Valencia.

Coach Hansi Flick confirmed that Lewandowski would start against Real Betis and described the forward's address to the squad. "He spoke with the team, said goodbye, and that it was a great time for him here in Barcelona," Flick said.

Flick reflected on their time together at a news conference. "I've worked with Robert now for years, and we won together nine trophies - all the titles I've won were with him," he said. "He's a perfect role model for young players - a fantastic human, but also a world-class player. This is why he's still playing at this level."

Barcelona marked the departure in a statement: "Thank you, Robert Lewandowski, for every goal, every bit of fight, and every magical moment wearing these colours. He arrived as a star, he leaves as a legend."

Chicago Fire said they had talks with Lewandowski over a move to Major League Soccer last December. In his Instagram post, Lewandowski also wrote: "I will never forget the love I received from the fans from my very first days. Catalonia is my place on earth," and that "Barca is back where it belongs."
