HOUSTON — Swiss luxury watchmaker Audemars Piguet and Swatch will begin selling an eight-piece limited-edition watch collection on Saturday at the Swatch store in the Houston Galleria. The collaboration pairs Audemars Piguet's "Royal Oak" design with the colorful style of Swatch's 1980s-inspired watch line, with each variation priced around $400.

Watch enthusiasts have been lining up outside the Galleria store ahead of the release, with some shoppers camping out for days in hopes of buying a watch when sales begin. Customers will be limited to purchasing one watch per day per store.

Chandler Brnes, who joined the line of prospective buyers, described his routine before heading to the mall. "I woke up early this morning, brushed my teeth, washed my face, went to the mall, went to go get something to eat. I had to put something on my stomach." Brnes said.

The price point marks a departure from traditional Audemars Piguet watches, which range from about $7,000 to more than $300,000. According to the companies, Audemars Piguet will direct proceeds from the collaboration toward training future watchmakers.

The collection's $400 price point stands in contrast to Audemars Piguet's standard lineup, where prices begin around $7,000 and extend beyond $300,000. The eight watch variations each draw on the Royal Oak design that has defined Audemars Piguet since its introduction, blended with the bright aesthetic associated with Swatch's 1980s-era watches. The purchase limit of one watch per day per store applies across all participating locations.
