San Antonio police responded just after 3:40 a.m. Tuesday to a reported assault in the 600 block of Olive Street, a few blocks east of the Alamodome, where a 28-year-old man was stabbed and punched during a haircut, according to the San Antonio Police Department. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.

Officers were called around 3:41 a.m. near Utah Street and Dreiss Street for a reported cutting during a fight over a haircut, police said. According to a police report, the victim and the suspect's father had a verbal argument while the victim was receiving the haircut, after which the suspect, a 35-year-old man, stabbed him.

The victim was stabbed in the upper body and slashed across the back, police said. The suspect and several others then punched the victim repeatedly with closed fists, according to the department.

The victim left the scene and did not call for help until about an hour and a half later, contacting police at a separate location, police said. The San Antonio Fire Department and EMS responded, and the victim was transported to Brooke Army Medical Center in stable condition for treatment of his injuries.

Officers later returned to the Olive Street location and attempted to contact the suspected attackers, but no one answered and they disengaged, police said.

The department said the assault occurred in the early morning hours at a location near the Alamodome, and the victim's decision to leave the scene before calling for help delayed the response. Police said officers made contact with the victim at the separate location where he had sought help approximately an hour and a half after the assault took place on Olive Street. The department's investigation into the assault continues, and no arrests have been made.
