Cuba's power grid collapsed, causing continuous blackouts for millions of people. The protests occur as the country faces economic difficulties across multiple sectors.

Remittances to Cuba have decreased by nearly 70%, while tourism income has fallen by more than 68%. Revenue from exporting Cuban medical professionals has declined by more than 53%.
