PERSIAN GULF — Iran launched waves of missiles and drones at Israel and Gulf states on Wednesday. The attacks followed the killing of Ali Larijani, Iran's top security chief, by Israeli forces.

Iran launched a ballistic missile strike on Qatar's Ras Laffan terminal, the world's largest liquefied natural gas export terminal. Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the Iranian attack on Ras Laffan Industrial City.

Qatar reported that five ballistic missiles were launched from Iran at its territory, with four intercepted and the fifth striking Ras Laffan. Qatar declared Iran's Embassy military attaché, security attaché and associated staff persona non grata and expelled them from the country.

Operations at the Habshan gas facility in Abu Dhabi have been suspended to clear debris from a missile interception. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said it has begun attacking other countries' energy infrastructure in response to U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iranian energy infrastructure. "If it is repeated, the subsequent attacks on your energy infrastructure and that of your allies will not cease until their complete destruction, and our response will be far more severe than tonight's attacks," the IRGC said.

Iranian attacks killed two people near Tel Aviv. Israel carried out strikes in Lebanon targeting Iran-backed Hezbollah militants, hitting multiple apartment buildings in Beirut and killing at least six people.

Israeli forces struck the South Pars gas field in Iran. Wednesday's strike on Ras Laffan occurred hours after Israeli fighter jets targeted Iran's South Pars field. The South Pars gas field is shared between Iran and Qatar.

The International Atomic Energy Agency said Iran's Bushehr nuclear power plant complex was hit by a projectile but suffered no damage. Director General of the IAEA Rafael Grossi called for maximum restraint during the conflict to prevent risk of a nuclear accident.

Approximately 20% of the world's liquefied natural gas supply moves through Ras Laffan. This is at least the second time Ras Laffan has been targeted in the war, with an earlier strike forcing parts of the facility offline.

The Senate defeated a war powers resolution by a 53 to 47 vote on Wednesday. The resolution would have directed the president to remove U.S. armed forces from hostilities against Iran unless authorized by a declaration of war or a specific authorization for use of military force. Congress has not authorized military force against Iran.
