TUCSON — Television journalist Savannah Guthrie posted a video on Instagram on Mother's Day appealing for help in finding her mother, Nancy Guthrie, who disappeared from her home near Tucson, Arizona, on February 1. The compilation featured moments with her 84-year-old mother and a plea to the public for information.

"Mother, daughter, sister, Nonie — we miss you with every breath. We will never stop looking for you. We will never be at peace until we find you," Guthrie said in the video. She urged anyone with information to contact federal authorities.

"We need help. Someone knows something that can make the difference. Call 1800CALLFBI. You can be anonymous and the reward remains available," she said. She closed the message with an appeal for prayer: "Please keep praying. Bring her home."

Nancy Guthrie was reported missing on February 1 after she failed to attend a virtual church service at a friend's house. She was last seen around 9:45 p.m. on January 31 after eating dinner at her daughter Annie Guthrie's home, authorities said.

Authorities described the disappearance as a possible kidnapping or abduction, and the Pima County Sheriff's Office has not publicly specified a motive. On February 2, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said he believed Nancy Guthrie did not leave her home "on her own."

Doorbell camera footage recovered at the home showed a person trying to enter the front door the night of her disappearance. A person was briefly detained in connection with the case. FBI agents are performing an advanced analysis using new technology on DNA samples collected from the house. Multiple purported ransom notes have been reported in the case.

FBI Director Kash Patel said on Fox News that the FBI was kept out of the investigation for four days. The Pima County Sheriff's Department said it began working with the FBI on the case "without delay."

Yellow ribbons were tied in a bow near the home in the Catalina Foothills development in February as a gesture of support for the family. Guthrie returned to her anchor desk on April 6 after taking two months off. On May 6, she left the broadcast mid-show after 90 minutes, with co-anchor Craig Melvin announcing she would return the next day.
