WASHINGTON D.C. — Sean Duffy and his family traveled by van on a seven-month trek across the United States, filming an upcoming reality television program tied to the country's 250th anniversary.

"I wanted to lean into America's 250th birthday," Duffy said. He described the rhythm of the journey, which combined work obligations with family travel. "Over the course of seven months, we just kind of found these moments where I might do some work. I could take the kids with me. Our motto was 'to love America is to see America,'" he said.

Duffy urged people to embark on road trips as an alternative for children accustomed to scrolling through social media.

Rachel Campos-Duffy said production costs for the program were paid for by a nonprofit, The Great American Road Trip Inc. The trip's sponsors include Boeing. "It was filmed in small one and two day stops over the course of seven months," Campos-Duffy said.
