BEDFORD, TEXAS — Joni Lamb, co-founder and president of the Daystar Television Network, died Thursday in Bedford, Texas, at age 65. A cause of death was not released.

Lamb had been suffering from serious health issues before sustaining a back injury that caused her health to deteriorate. She and her late husband, Marcus Lamb, began broadcasting in the Dallas area with a single station in 1993.

The network, based in Bedford, Texas, grew to broadcast in more than 200 countries and reaches 2.3 billion homes worldwide. Daystar has aired shows from evangelists including Joel Osteen and T.D. Jakes, and its ministry was rooted in Pentecostalism, a Christian tradition known for its spirit-filled worship and its belief in modern-day miracles and everyday battles with evil influences.

Five years after the network launched, Lamb began hosting her signature daily women's show. She later hosted "Joni Table Talk," where she discussed daily issues.

"Joni's love for the Lord and for the people we serve shaped this ministry from the beginning," the Daystar Television Network board of directors said in a statement. The board said the network's ministry will continue and that Lamb made sure a leadership team was in place.

Lamb stood beside her husband in 2010 when he admitted on television to an affair with a woman years before. She said she was devastated when she learned of his infidelity and prayed to the Holy Spirit.

"He's worth fighting for," Lamb said at the time. The couple said they had healed their marriage and had hoped to keep the matter private. "All you can do is tell the truth and take your pain and use it to try to help someone else," she said.

Following her first husband's death at age 64, Lamb married Doug Weiss two years later. The two hosted the show "Ministry Now."
