UTAH — Taylor Frankie Paul's season of The Bachelorette is scheduled to premiere on Sunday while she remains involved in an ongoing domestic assault investigation in Utah. ABC named Paul as the newest Bachelorette in September 2025.

The Draper City Police Department confirmed there is an open investigation involving Paul and Dakota Mortensen stemming from an incident in February. The department said allegations have been made in both directions.

The West Jordan Police Department in Utah received a domestic violence allegation via phone call involving Paul, a spokesperson said. Detectives are working on establishing the facts of the case, the spokesperson said. The West Jordan Police Department declined to provide details about the domestic violence allegation or any potential charges and did not know the exact date or time of the reported incident, a spokesperson said.

Paul and Mortensen are cast members on a reality series and share a son named Ever. They began their relationship in September 2022 and had an off-and-on relationship documented on the show. Paul has two other children from a previous marriage to Tate Paul.

Paul was the first person from outside the franchise to be cast in the role of Bachelorette.

Cinnabon has cut ties with Taylor Frankie Paul and The Bachelorette. Disney is the parent company of Hulu and ABC.

"When your life is broadcast out there in these headlines, it's like the end of the world. That's what it feels like," Paul said. "But I will say, I've been here before, and I got through it, and, you know, shared my story, my light."

"It's extremely hard, and it took everything to get me here today," Paul said.

"Dating as a mom of three is extremely difficult," she said. "It was hard, but so fun and exciting at the same time. I'd be lying if I said it was just really easy."
