MIAMI — An off-duty United States Secret Service officer was arrested Sunday for indecent exposure at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Miami Airport & Convention Center in Miami. John Andrew Spillman, 33, was found by deputies naked and masturbating in a hallway on the sixth floor of the hotel.

A woman told investigators that Spillman followed her from the hotel lobby to the sixth floor, and that she and other guests entered their room because they feared for their lives. Hotel security personnel reported they saw Spillman engaging in the same behavior on the hotel floor.

Spillman was held in lieu of $1,000 bail at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. By Tuesday, he had posted bond and was expected to be released. He was placed on administrative leave pending the results of the criminal matter and an internal investigation.

Secret Service uniformed division chief Richard Macauley issued a statement addressing the arrest. "The alleged conduct is unacceptable and stands in stark contrast to the professionalism and integrity that I demand of our personnel," Macauley said. "This agency takes these matters with the utmost seriousness; consequently, the individual has been placed on administrative leave pending the results of this criminal matter and a complete and thorough internal investigation."

Prior to the arrest, Spillman had been part of an external screening security detail at the 2025 PGA Cadillac Championship attended by Donald Trump. The Secret Service has not released additional details about his duties or assignments beyond that role.
