MIAMI — A man was arrested Saturday at President Trump's Doral National Golf Club just outside of Miami after an alleged disturbance at a Secret Service security checkpoint. Trump was not at the club at the time.

The man approached a security area at the golf club at around 4:15 p.m., according to the Secret Service. The checkpoint was manned by federal agents and law enforcement officers.

Acting Special Agent in Charge of Secret Service Miami Michael Townsend said the man became "disruptive and failed to comply with lawful orders." He also said the man "made physical contact with a member of the Secret Service and was taken into custody without further incident."

The man was arrested by the Doral Police Department and charged with disorderly conduct and resisting without violence. He was not immediately identified and is being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami.

A video shared on social media by Nick Sortor showed the individual shuffling in place as he was cuffed after allegedly setting off magnetometers at an entry screening area. "The incident did not impact the established security posture for the President's visit to Trump Doral National Golf Club by Secret Service," Townsend said.

The alleged incident occurred one week after shots were fired during the White House Correspondents' Dinner in Washington, D.C. Trump was rushed off the dais, and a Secret Service agent was hit by a round but was protected by a bulletproof vest.

Cole Tomas Allen, a California teacher, has been charged with attempting to assassinate the president, transporting weapons across state lines with intent to commit a felony, and discharging a firearm during a crime of violence. Allen charged through a security checkpoint at the Washington Hilton while armed with a shotgun, knives, and other weapons in an attempt to assassinate Trump and members of his cabinet during the dinner. If convicted, he faces up to life in prison.

In 2024, a man allegedly aimed a rifle at then-candidate Trump at his Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach. Secret Service engaged in gunfire with that suspect before arresting him. The man, Ryan Routh, was later convicted of trying to assassinate a presidential candidate and sentenced to life in prison.
