GAZA STRIP — Israeli officials threatened to end the Gaza ceasefire in place since October to force a surrender, as Israeli forces expanded their territorial control to 59 percent of the Gaza Strip by pushing the ceasefire-established Yellow Line westwards. Israeli troops have also been moved from the Lebanese front into Gaza and the occupied West Bank.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu canceled a scheduled security cabinet meeting on Sunday and held smaller consultations instead. Three Palestinians were killed by Israeli strikes on Sunday afternoon.

According to local medical sources, 828 Palestinians have been killed since the truce began. Medical data released on Saturday placed the total number of Palestinians killed since the war began at 72,608.

"The threats are a 'smoke screen' designed to extort mediators and salvage Netanyahu's political standing before the October elections," said Mamoun Abu Amer, an expert on Israeli affairs. A member of the Hamas political bureau said Israel has blocked the entry of 600 aid trucks daily, violating the ceasefire.

The same official said a unified front of Palestinian factions, including Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, has rejected a disarmament prerequisite contained in a proposed roadmap and insisted on the full implementation of the first phase of the ceasefire.

The roadmap, proposed by Nikolay Mladenov, the high representative for the United States-backed Board of Peace, would require the complete disarmament of Hamas within 281 days over five stages, the Hamas official said. The plan builds on U.S. President Donald Trump's 20-point vision and conditions humanitarian aid, reconstruction and the opening of crossings into Gaza on the phased handover of weapons, according to the same official.

The International Stabilization Force is a multinational body deployed under the recent truce framework to oversee security and manage the ceasefire's implementation. The National Committee for the Administration of Gaza is a technocratic body established to govern civilian affairs and oversee reconstruction in the enclave.
