AMARILLO, TEXAS — The Amarillo Police Department on Saturday asked the public to help identify two suspects in a shooting at an apartment complex near Interstate 40 in Amarillo, Texas, that killed two teenagers and wounded 10 other people. Officers responded around 1:58 a.m. to a report of a shooting at the complex.

The two people killed were 16 and 17 years old. Authorities did not release the conditions of the wounded. Police said the shooting appears to have been targeted.

Surveillance video shows two suspects opening fire outside an apartment at the complex, followed by yelling and screaming and additional gunshots. Investigators recovered shell casings from multiple weapons in an alley near the complex and believe multiple weapons were used. A Glock 9mm handgun was found on a landing outside an apartment, though investigators said no weapons have been directly linked to the suspects.

Investigators said the gathering involved juveniles and young adults and began at a different location before moving to the apartment complex. The suspects were affiliated with the targeted location and were known to at least one person at the gathering. They had been asked to leave the earlier party before going to the complex and opening fire.

Phillip Thrasher, a neighbor, described the scene after the gunfire. "When I looked outside and came outside it was complete chaos. I mean there was kids running everywhere, just screaming and running. They didn't even know where they were running to, you know." Thrasher said.

No arrests have been made and a motive has not been determined. The department asked residents to check doorbell and surveillance cameras for any unusual activity in the early morning hours and to submit any video that may help the investigation. Amarillo police increased patrol staffing after separate shootings on March 22 killed six people.
