CHULA VISTA — The San Diego Fugitive Task Force arrested Jayden Jhamar Davis on Monday in Chula Vista in connection with the 2022 shooting death of a 3-year-old boy in Louisiana, officials said. Davis was located and apprehended without incident, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

Davis was staying at an apartment in the 1900 block of Stylus Street in Otay Ranch, officials said. He is in custody pending extradition to Louisiana.

On Saturday, the Middle Louisiana Fugitive Task Force received an active arrest warrant from the Baton Rouge Police Department for Davis, who was wanted on suspicion of first-degree murder. He is accused of killing Devin Page Jr., who was struck in the head by a stray bullet while sleeping beside his 1-year-old sister inside their home on April 12, 2022.

"The incident stemmed from a shootout in the street that left more than 30 bullet holes in the exterior of the residence, where the family had been attempting to relocate due to ongoing violence in the area." the U.S. Marshals Service said in a statement.

Authorities linked a Glock used in the shootout that led to Devin's death to two other shootings, one of them fatal. Investigators found social media posts in which the suspect allegedly handled two of the firearms believed to have been used in the crime.

The U.S. Marshals Service announced the arrest on Wednesday. Davis faces a first-degree murder charge in connection with the April 12, 2022 incident in Baton Rouge.
