TEHRAN — Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf on Thursday rejected U.S. President Donald Trump's assertion of a leadership rift in Tehran. Pezeshkian, Ghalibaf and the Supreme National Security Council jointly posted a message on X affirming national unity under the Supreme Leader.

"In Iran, there are no radicals or moderates," the joint message said. It continued: "We are all 'Iranian' and 'revolutionary', and with the iron unity of the nation and government, with complete obedience to the Supreme Leader of the Revolution, we will make the aggressor criminal regret his actions."

The joint statement followed a week in which Trump and his aides repeatedly described divisions inside the Iranian leadership. "Iranians are having a very hard time figuring out who their leader is," Trump said, adding that there was "crazy" infighting between "moderates" and "hardliners" in Tehran. Trump also wrote on social media: "Iran's Navy is lying at the bottom of the Sea, their Air Force is demolished, their Anti-Aircraft and Radar Weaponry is gone, their leaders are no longer with us, the Blockade is airtight and strong and, from there, it only gets worse — Time is not on their side!"

Araghchi on Thursday also dismissed allegations that the Iranian military is at odds with the political leadership. "The failure of Israel's terrorist killings is reflected in how Iran's state institutions continue to act with unity, purpose, and discipline," he wrote on X. He added: "The battlefield and diplomacy are fully coordinated fronts in the same war."

First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref shared the message on X. Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has not made a public appearance since replacing his father, Ali Khamenei, who was killed by U.S.-Israeli strikes on February 28. According to officials, the younger Khamenei was wounded and "disfigured" in the strike that killed his father.
