NABLUS — Israeli forces shot and killed a 15-year-old Palestinian during a morning raid in the occupied West Bank city of Nablus, according to the official Palestinian news agency Wafa. The teenager was struck by live ammunition in the shoulder and transferred to a nearby hospital, where he died from his wounds.

Six Israeli army vehicles arrived in Nablus in the morning, Abood al-Aker, communications director for the municipality, said. Soldiers spoke to shop owners in the Rafidia district's commercial area before exiting the city, and shot the teenager as they were leaving, he said. "We don't know why they shot this kid on their way out," al-Aker said.

The Israeli military said a Palestinian hurled stones toward Israeli forces during an operational activity in the area of Nablus. Forces initiated standard suspect apprehension procedures, which concluded with fire being directed at the suspect, the military said. It said it was aware of reports that a Palestinian was killed at the scene.

The Israeli military's account and al-Aker's account differ on the circumstances of the shooting. Al-Aker said soldiers had completed their activity in the Rafidia district's commercial area and were exiting the city when they opened fire on the teenager. The military did not confirm the age of the person who was killed.

Violence has increased across the occupied Palestinian territory since October 2023. The Israeli army and settlers have killed hundreds of Palestinians in the West Bank during that period, according to Wafa. The raid in Nablus took place during what the Israeli military described as an operational activity in the area.
