WASHINGTON — The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall of nearly 208,000 pairs of 32 Degrees Heated Socks sold at Costco in April 2026. The recall notice reported 13 customer reports of first- and second-degree burns from using the heated socks. The recall involved 14 heat-related incidents among customers.

The recall notice stated: "Consumers should immediately stop using the heated socks and return them to Costco for a full refund."

The socks were sold at Costco stores and online at Costco.com from August 2025 through March 2026 for between $30 and $46 per pair. The recalled socks were sold exclusively at Costco and must be returned there for refunds. Costco will directly notify members who purchased the recalled socks.

The black socks were sold in medium, large, and extra large sizes and featured the 32° HEAT brand name on the battery pack casing, packaging, user manual, and retail packaging. Consumers should check the battery pack casing, packaging, or user manual for the "32 Degrees HEAT®" brand name to determine if their heated socks are part of the recall.

One customer report described an injury sustained while wearing the socks in ski boots. "Used socks 1 time in ski boots at level 2 was ok. 2nd time using socks turned up to level 3. After 2 hrs got a 2nd degree burn on my ball of my left foot," the customer wrote.
