GAZA — DP World held talks with representatives linked to U.S. President Donald Trump's Board of Peace over managing supply chains and infrastructure projects in Gaza. The discussions explored whether the state-owned company could partner with the Board of Peace to oversee logistics for humanitarian aid and commercial goods entering the territory.

The talks covered warehousing, cargo tracking systems and security arrangements. Proposals discussed included building a new port in Gaza or on Egypt's nearby Mediterranean coast and creating a free-trade zone inside Gaza.

A draft proposal described a vision for a "secure and traceable supply chain system" and a "port-led economic ecosystem," alongside light industry and job-creation platforms. The identities of the drafter and the extent of progress in the talks were unclear.

A spokesperson for DP World said the company was not aware of any discussions. DP World is owned by the Dubai government and handles about 10 percent of global trade daily across more than 80 countries.

U.S. officials have longstanding proposals to privatise much of the Palestinian territory's services and infrastructure as part of plans for a "new Gaza." Discussions linked to Gaza's reconstruction have continued behind the scenes, including talks with companies in the security, finance and technology sectors. A joint assessment by the European Union, United Nations and World Bank said Gaza will require $71.4 billion for reconstruction over the next 10 years, including $23 billion needed in the next 18 months.

A U.S.-brokered ceasefire was announced in October 2025. Aid access in Gaza remains heavily restricted despite the ceasefire, and Israel continues to occupy large swaths of the territory. Since the ceasefire, Israeli attacks have killed more than 700 people and injured about 2,000 in Gaza, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

Hamas signaled readiness to surrender thousands of police weapons in Gaza to the new Trump-led peace body but did not agree to the full disarmament demanded by Israel.
