LAS VEGAS — Lucasfilm released the final trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, the annual convention for movie theater owners. The film is scheduled for theatrical release on May 22, 2026.

During the Walt Disney Co. presentation, attendees were also shown the first 17 minutes of the film, directed by Jon Favreau. The Mandalorian and Grogu is the first Star Wars theatrical release since The Rise of Skywalker in 2019 and the first big-screen adventure for Din Djarin and Grogu after three seasons of their Disney+ series, which launched that same year.

The final trailer opens with Grogu meditating on a moss-covered log in a swamp, accompanied by a voiceover from Sigourney Weaver referencing tales of a Mandalorian and a child. Pedro Pascal's character, Din Djarin, states that he only takes on war criminals. "Take out every bad guy in your deck of cards," Djarin says in the trailer. Later footage shows Djarin captured by the Hutts and Grogu appearing to rescue him, followed by the line, "This is the way," also spoken by Djarin.

The 17-minute preview depicts Djarin infiltrating a secret meeting of Empire sympathizers on a snowy planet and destroying AT-AT walkers. He uses a flamethrower against Snowtroopers inside a base with assistance from Grogu, who uses the Force to destroy a reconnaissance droid sent by the Empire. Djarin, Grogu and Zeb Orrelios steal a mini AT-ST walker — a smaller, more agile version than the one seen on Endor in Return of the Jedi — and move down snow-covered cliffs while avoiding AT-AT footsteps and laser fire.

Djarin uses a bomb to trip an AT-AT walker, causing it to crash down a mountain, then uses a jetpack to board another walker's hatch. An Empire leader escapes in an escape pod, and Djarin shoots him down by overriding the AT-AT's blasters. The trio return to a New Republic base and report to Ward, played by Weaver, who criticizes them for killing their target without gathering intelligence and assigns them to rescue Rotta the Hutt, voiced by Jeremy Allen White, from rival gangsters. The preview ends with the group boarding a new starship and departing into space.

The film opens with static yellow text explaining the state of the New Republic, in place of the traditional opening crawl. According to the official logline, the Empire has fallen, Imperial warlords remain scattered, and the New Republic enlists Djarin and Grogu to protect the achievements of the Rebellion. The cast also includes Jonny Coyne reprising his role as an Imperial warlord from season 3 of The Mandalorian, Dave Filoni as X-wing pilot Trapper Wolf, and Steve Blum as Garazeb "Zeb" Orrelios, reprising his role from the Star Wars Rebels animated series.
