WASHINGTON, DC — JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent urged the Senate Banking Committee to confirm Kevin Warsh as Federal Reserve Chair as quickly as possible, after the panel delayed his nomination hearing by one week while awaiting his financial disclosures.

The hearing is now scheduled for the following week. In his financial filings, Warsh disclosed that his net worth is approximately $100 million.

Dimon called Warsh "a great candidate" to lead the central bank and pressed for urgency on the timeline. "I think the sooner the better, because I think it would actually create stability," he said.

Dimon also described the Justice Department's probe into incumbent Fed Chair Jerome Powell's statements about the Federal Reserve's $2.5 billion renovations to its Washington, D.C., headquarters as a possible threat to the central bank's independence.

Senator Thom Tillis said he would vote against any Trump nominee for Federal Reserve Chair until the Justice Department drops its probe of Powell. Tillis has said he supports holding the hearing in order to fast-track the confirmation once the investigation concludes.

Bessent said he was confident that Warsh would be sworn in on time in May. "We want Kevin Warsh as soon as possible," he said. Addressing Tillis's stated opposition, Bessent added, "I think Sen. Tillis, at the end of the day, is a reasonable man."
