ROSEBORO, N.C. — A man was arrested on April 13, 2026, in Roseboro, North Carolina, on charges including attempted murder and first-degree arson after a woman was found with burns over approximately two-thirds of her body during a structure fire, according to a sheriff's office statement.
Firefighters and deputies had been called to the structure fire on Saturday night in Roseboro, a community about 65 miles south of Raleigh. When they arrived, they found the woman suffering from extensive burns covering about two-thirds of her body.
The woman told authorities that a man had forced his way into her home and that the suspect left the scene on a bicycle, the sheriff's office said. The woman was subsequently taken to a trauma center for treatment. Her condition was not disclosed.
The suspect was located in a wooded area behind a residence and taken into custody without incident, the sheriff's office said. He was served with warrants on the attempted murder and first-degree arson charges.
