ROSEBORO, N.C. — A woman suffered burns covering about two-thirds of her body after a man forced his way into her Roseboro, N.C., home Saturday night, doused her with gasoline and set her on fire, according to the Sampson County Sheriff's Office. The suspect fled the scene on a bicycle and was still at large Sunday afternoon.

Firefighters and deputies responded to a structure fire at the home Saturday night and found the woman with extensive burns, the sheriff's office said. She told authorities the man had forced entry into her residence before the attack.

The woman was taken to a trauma center for treatment. Her condition was not immediately disclosed.

After consulting with the local prosecutor's office, the Sampson County Sheriff's Office obtained documents accusing a suspect of first-degree arson, first-degree burglary and other charges. The suspect's name was included in the charging documents, but authorities had not taken him into custody as of Sunday afternoon. The sheriff's office did not release additional details about the suspect or a possible motive.

Roseboro is a small community about 65 miles south of Raleigh, the state capital of North Carolina. The Sampson County Sheriff's Office is leading the investigation.
