WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Donald Trump welcomed DoorDash delivery driver Sharon Simmons to the White House on April 13, 2026, speaking to reporters as she delivered a McDonald's order outside the Oval Office. Trump invited Simmons to talk to the press about tax breaks on tips.

"It's such an honor to meet you," Trump told Simmons as he brought her before reporters. "You're really nice. Would you like to do a little news conference with me with these people?" he added. Trump also asked Simmons whom she voted for and whether men should play in women's sports, telling her, "And I think you voted for me, do you think?"

Simmons, an Arkansas grandmother of 10, told reporters she had never delivered to the White House before. According to DoorDash, she has completed more than 14,000 deliveries for the company since starting in 2022. The no-tax-on-tips policy netted Simmons $11,000 more than she would have earned otherwise, at a time when her husband is fighting cancer.

"It was an incredible honor to represent Dashers from all over the country at the White House today. Thanks to DoorDash, I have been able to provide for my family while keeping the schedule that works best for me, something I never thought would be possible. Now No Tax on Tips has taken things to the next level, letting me keep more of the tips I earn and deserve." Simmons said in a statement released by DoorDash.

After the appearance, Trump gave the food delivery to West Wing staff, a White House official said. The official said staff members enjoyed the cheeseburgers and fries.
