London police arrested more than 200 people on Saturday during a demonstration in Trafalgar Square in support of the group Palestine Action, which the government has labeled a terrorist organization. The Metropolitan Police said they detained 212 protesters between the ages of 27 and 82 for supporting the group.

Hundreds of people gathered in Trafalgar Square for the protest, which was organized by the group Defend Our Juries. Police had warned in advance that they would make arrests at the demonstration.

Britain's High Court ruled in February that the government's decision to outlaw Palestine Action as a terrorist organization was unlawful. The ban on the group remained in place, however, while the government appeals the ruling. Expressions of support for Palestine Action were still treated as grounds for detention at the time of Saturday's protest.

Some protesters carried signs bearing the words "I oppose genocide. I support Palestine Action." Musician Robert Del Naja was among those who held a sign in support of Palestine Action at the demonstration.

"I thought this is ridiculous and then the police making that U-turn to arrest people again, I thought that is even more ridiculous," Del Naja said. "I'm going to hold a sign today."

As officers carried away protesters who were being detained, other demonstrators yelled insults at police. "Yeah, she looks like a terrorist, doesn't she mate?" one protester shouted as an individual was removed from the square.
