HOLLYWOOD, FLORIDA — Rapper Offset was released from the hospital on Friday after being shot Monday night outside the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, following a fight. The Seminole Police Department said his injuries were not life-threatening.
A spokesperson said Offset had been in stable condition and was being closely monitored during his hospital stay. "Offset has been released from the hospital and he is up and walking. We're incredibly grateful to the doctors, nurses, and the entire hospital staff who took such great care of him," the spokesperson said upon his release. Offset also posted on social media: "Thank you to everyone who's checked in on me and showed me love!"
Two people were detained by the department in connection with the incident. Rapper Lil Tjay, born Tione Jayden Merritt, was arrested in connection with the altercation that preceded the shooting, the department said. He was charged with disorderly conduct and operating a vehicle without a valid license.
Public records show Lil Tjay was booked into the Broward County Jail on a disorderly conduct — affray charge with bail set at $500 and on a traffic violation carrying a $2,500 bond. He was released from jail the next day. While exiting the jail, Lil Tjay called Offset a "rat."
Attorney Dawn M. Florio issued a statement saying, "Any reporting to the contrary is false." A second person detained at the scene has not been charged, the department said. Investigators were working to identify others involved in the incident.
Offset, whose birth name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, is one-third of the hip-hop trio Migos. The group released four full-length albums and had multiplatinum-selling singles including "Bad and Boujee," "Stir Fry," and "Narcos." "Bad and Boujee" reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Offset has also released three full-length solo albums.
Offset and rapper Cardi B were married in September 2017 in Atlanta and have three children together. Cardi B filed for divorce from Offset in 2024. Offset's cousin, fellow Migos member Takeoff, was shot and killed at a Houston bowling alley.
