LONDON — The Crown Prosecution Service charged Mohmed Abdulkarim and Nouman Essghir with offences under the National Security Act 2023 on Tuesday. The first hearing for both individuals is set for Tuesday 27 October 2026 at Westminster Magistrates’ Court.

Frank Ferguson, Chief Crown Prosecutor for the CPS Special Crime and Counter Terrorism Division, stated that the decision to prosecute followed a Counter Terrorism Policing investigation into a high-profile incident involving RAF Fairford. "The Crown Prosecution Service has decided to prosecute two individuals with National Security Act offences following a Counter Terrorism Policing investigation into a high-profile incident involving RAF Fairford," he said. "We will continue to work closely with our partners as this complex investigation continues."

Abdulkarim, a 24-year-old from the borough of Westminster, London, faces one charge of assisting a foreign intelligence service under section 3(2) of the National Security Act 2023. The charge alleges that between 31 August 2026 and 28 September 2026 he engaged in conduct likely to materially assist a foreign intelligence service in carrying out UK-related activities.

Essghir, also 24 and a resident of the borough of Westminster, London, is charged with one count of entering a prohibited place for a purpose prejudicial to the UK, contrary to section 4(1) of the National Security Act 2023.
