LAS VEGAS — Comedian Carrot Top has been released from the hospital and is recovering at home with his family. A representative for Carrot Top confirmed his release from the hospital on Saturday.

Carrot Top was hospitalized following a suicide attempt on Sept. 18. The 61-year-old performer, whose real name is Scott Thompson, was found unconscious by his pool at his Las Vegas home.

Clark County Fire Department responders headed to Carrot Top's home at around 4:20 p.m. on Friday following an emergency call. The emergency call regarded a 61-year-old male who was not alert at the time. A City of Las Vegas ambulance responded to the scene, and Carrot Top was transported to a local hospital via private ambulance.

A 911 caller told Carrot Top to stay awake while on the phone with a dispatcher on Sept. 18. An unknown female 911 caller stated that Carrot Top's feet were hanging in the pool and she couldn’t move them. The 911 caller told officers that she found Carrot Top unconscious after his employee asked her to check on him.

The 911 caller stated that Carrot Top was losing consciousness, with his face turning blue after he tried to commit suicide. The 911 caller was instructed to lay Carrot Top on his back and monitor his breathing.

Carrot Top texted his manager done before his suicide attempt. Carrot Top's manager told officers that he had spoken to his client in a phone call on Sept. 18 about an article accusing him of sexual misconduct that was set to be released. Carrot Top told his manager his Las Vegas residency would be over.

Carrot Top claimed he hoped an unnamed woman and her daughter would be fine without him before hanging up. Carrot Top's manager called the police to check up on him after being unable to get ahold of him. Officers arrived at Carrot Top’s Las Vegas home at 4:21 p.m. local time. Carrot Top was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Carrot Top remained under medical care for nearly a week. He was awake, breathing on his own and continuing to improve as of Sunday. Carrot Top was surrounded by his family and those closest to him as of Sunday.

Carrot Top shared moments of humor with the medical staff caring for him. Carrot Top was moved by messages of support from fans. His family and those closest to him are deeply grateful for the concern, prayers and respectfully ask for privacy, representative Jami Schlicher said.

A handful of Carrot Top's shows at the Luxor Hotel and Casino were canceled following the incident. Carrot Top canceled his Las Vegas shows for the next three weeks. Carrot Top's next show listed on the Luxor resort’s calendar is set for Sept. 28.

Carrot Top's show has been a mainstay at the Atrium Showroom at the Luxor since November 2005. Carrot Top rose to fame in the 1990s. Carrot Top appeared opposite Jean Smart’s fictional Vegas comedian Deborah Vance in a 2024 episode of Hacks.
