WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Secret Service is investigating reports of overnight gunfire near Lafayette Park in Washington, D.C. No injuries were reported in connection with the incident.

The Secret Service conducted a search of Lafayette Park and the surrounding area after midnight, according to information the agency provided in an online post. No suspect was found during the search.

The agency said it is working with District of Columbia police and U.S. Park Police as part of the investigation into the reported gunfire.

Security in the area was increased following the reports. Road closures were put in place around Lafayette Park in the aftermath of the incident. As of 8:21 a.m., the road closures had been lifted.

Lafayette Park is located across the street from the White House. The park had been fenced off for weeks due to renovations at the time of the incident.
