GREENVILLE, SOUTH CAROLINA — The Greenville County Coroner’s Office ruled Hayden Panettiere’s death an accident caused by the toxic effects of fentanyl, 4-ANPP, Alprazolam, Methocarbamol, and Quetiapine. The actress died on August 16, 2026, at age 36 after being found unresponsive at a residence in Greenville, South Carolina. She said she was better and healthier than she had been in a long time.

A 911 call regarding a reported cardiac arrest was received at approximately 1:51 p.m. on August 16, 2026.
