BRISTOL, TENN. — Carson Hocevar punched Ryan Blaney during a post-race confrontation at Bristol Motor Speedway after their on-track incident cost Blaney a chance at victory. NASCAR will review the fight to determine if penalties are warranted. Carson Hocevar said: "I don't know if he tripped on somebody or got a decent one in. I don't know what a good one feels like." Hocevar said: "There wasn’t a whole lot of talking. He just kind of said one thing and then went after me, and I wasn’t going to take it." He said: "I kind of waved at them and they all stood up and got pumped-up. So again, a very cool moment for me. Hopefully they can sell some tickets next year and improve ticket sales."

"I was on the brakes pretty hard, and he obviously spun, and it resulted in that. I was just trying to stop my bleeding."

He acknowledged the stakes for his opponent. "I understand why he's upset. That's probably his championship, so I understand 100 percent. I'd probably be mad, too. Whether it was his mistake, my mistake, my fault or not — I'd be pretty pissed if I was him."

Spire Motorsports team owner Jeff Dickerson commented on the incident. "We’re just surprised he can fight. What’s he going to get penalized for? I think the drivers can fight," Dickerson said.

He expressed mixed feelings about the outcome. "I was kind of surprised. It’s Bristol, hard racing. I don’t want to see Blaney mad. I love him.. That’s a bit out of character for Ryan. I don’t know what to say. It’s a shame he walled all the way over there and Carson caught him good with about two or three straight rights."

Joey Logano won the NASCAR Cup Series Bass Pro Shops Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway on Saturday night. Kyle Larson finished second. Ty Gibbs finished fifth.
