Two children were hospitalized after ingesting magnets removed from the limbs of the toys. Ingested high-powered magnets can attract each other or other metal objects within the digestive system, potentially causing intestinal perforations, twisting, blockages, blood poisoning, and death.
The recalled product consists of 30 magnetic figures in the shape of humans, packaged in three units of various colors including brown, white, green, peach, yellow, pink, blue, orange, purple, and red. Each figure measures approximately 2.7 inches tall by 2.5 inches wide and contains magnets in the hand and foot locations. The product has no labeling and is packaged in an unlabeled clear bag enclosed in a brown box with the brand name 'Jerify' and the number 'X003ADA3TD' on a sticker.
The recalled Jerify Magnetic Humanoid Toy Sets 30 PCS were sold on Amazon.com from October 2022 through May 2026 for approximately $21. The manufacturer is Hefei Hanchan Network Technology Co. Ltd. located in China. Consumers are instructed to stop using the toys immediately, dispose of them, and email a photo of the disposed items to coushdwugintwer@163.com to receive a full refund from Colerinsec.
Why It Matters
The CPSC's Safety Standard for Magnets (87 FR 57756) established a flux index requirement of less than 50 kG² mm² for magnets in products designed for entertainment or stress relief, which the Jerify toys violated by containing high-powered magnets that could be ingested. This recall follows a pattern of enforcement actions against magnetic products that pose ingestion risks to children.
In August, the CPSC recalled about 2,186 BUSOHA magnetic fidget sliders sold on Amazon because their silicone casings could be removed and expose loose magnets, although no injuries were reported. A separate August recall involved about 860 Pixlabby magnetic fidget sliders, with the CPSC reporting that a child removed the silicone casing, swallowed two magnets and was hospitalized.
Timeline
The CPSC approved a new federal safety standard for magnets on September 7, 2022, mandating that certain magnet products must be either too large to swallow or have a flux index below 50 kG² mm², following a 2016 court ruling that vacated a prior 2014 standard for magnet sets. On September 17, 2026, Hefei Hanchan Network Technology Co. Ltd. doing business as Colerinsec, recalled approximately 38,507 units of Jerify Magnetic Humanoid Toy Sets. The recall was issued because the toys violate mandatory safety standards for toys due to the risk of loose high-powered magnets.
