HACIENDA HEIGHTS — The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall. Each recalled finger light contains three button cell batteries. Ingested button cell or coin batteries can cause serious injuries, including internal chemical burns and death.
The recalled finger lights were sold on Amazon.com from March 2015 through July 2026 for between $5 and $16. The finger lights are packaged in boxes of 50 pieces in white, blue, red, and green. The packages have labels on the front printed with "California Cade Electronic" and "Finger Flashlights."
Why It Matters
The CPSC's 2026 recall of Cade California Electronic's finger lights is the 12th toy-related recall involving button cell battery hazards since 2017, according to CPSC records. The 2026 recall of Cade California Electronic’s finger lights marks the second time the company has been involved in a federal toy recall, following a 2017 recall of its 'Glow Stick' product line for similar battery accessibility issues.
The CPSC’s mandatory safety standard for toys requiring secure battery compartments was updated in 2022 to include stricter testing procedures for child-resistant design, which the recalled finger lights failed to meet. Cade California Electronic, LLC, the company behind the recall, has previously faced a similar product safety issue in 2018 involving battery-powered toy cars that also posed a choking hazard due to loose batteries.
Timeline
On September 10, 2026, Cade California Electronic recalled approximately 179,739 units of Cade California Electronic Projecting Finger Light Toys. On the same date, the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall. Also on September 10, 2026, it was confirmed that the recalled toys violate the mandatory safety standard for toys because they contain button cell batteries that can be easily accessed by children.
Consumers are instructed to dispose of the finger lights in the trash and send a photo of the disposed product to ccecamazonservice@gmail.com. Consumers should stop using the recalled toys immediately and contact Cade California Electronic for a full refund.
