TRENTON, NEW JERSEY — Two people died and eight others were wounded in a shooting in Trenton, New Jersey. Multiple shooters walked up to a crowd and opened fire during a large gathering on August 30, 2026.

More than 50 spent shell casings were found at the scene. Multiple vehicles were struck by gunfire. Officials stated an additional person was hospitalized following a crash that may have been tied to the incident, accounting for discrepancies in injury counts.

New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill stated she has been briefed on the shooting and Attorney Jennifer Davenport is in touch with local officials. "I'm thinking of the families who lost loved ones, those who were injured, and the Trenton community," Sherrill said. The Mercer County Prosecutor's Office Homicide Task Force is investigating the shooting. No arrests have been made.
