WASHINGTON DC — Donald Trump posted a series of AI-generated images and a video depicting himself alongside George Washington and military generals in historically anachronistic settings. The posts included depictions of the former president standing with the first U.S. president in the White House ballroom and appearing on a battlefield with World War II-era commanders.

Trump posted an AI-generated image of himself and George Washington standing side by side in the White House ballroom. Shortly after the first post, he published three additional AI-generated images of himself and Washington in the same location. In one of these images, Trump is holding a piece of paper and pointing at the ceiling while standing with Washington.

Another image shows the two figures sitting at a table holding quills over a map. A fifth image depicts Trump on a black horse and Washington on a white horse.

Trump also posted a video showing AI-generated figures of himself and George Washington walking through the ballroom and pointing at the ceiling. The visual content extended beyond the White House interior to include military imagery. He posted an AI-generated image of himself in a military uniform flanked by Generals George Patton and Douglas MacArthur on a battlefield.

In this depiction, Trump is shown with six rows of medals on his chest. Two tanks appear to be on fire in the background of the image featuring the generals.

Angelo Carusone, president of Media Matters, analyzed the intent behind the posts. Carusone said he thinks part of the reason Trump posted the images is because it ties in with a deeper sentiment that Trump has that he is on par with, or even potentially better than, George Washington, and that he is trying to be a founder.

A spokesperson for Truth Social defended the platform used for the posts. The spokesperson said Truth Social is the most powerful and popular social media platform in the world because it serves as Trump’s authentic voice, where he communicates directly with the American people and the world without the biased media taking him out of context.

Why It Matters

The posts utilize artificial intelligence to place a current political figure alongside historical leaders in settings that did not exist during their lifetimes. This aligns with Trump's stated desire for the White House ballroom to serve as a legacy project. The use of AI allows for the creation of visual narratives that merge different historical periods, such as placing Trump with George Washington and World War II generals in the same frame.
