DRAPER, UTAH — The Draper Police Department opened a domestic violence investigation on Feb. 23 into allegations that Taylor Frankie Paul assaulted her ex-girlfriend at a residence in Draper, Utah. The department said the case remains under open investigation.

A friend of Dakota Mortensen called Draper police last month to report Paul's alleged involvement in a domestic violence incident, according to police records. The complaint states that the victim was assaulted by an ex-girlfriend at her residence, and the alleged incident occurred between Feb. 22 and Feb. 23. The heavily redacted police report did not name Mortensen as the victim.

The victim told police about two incidents of physical assault involving grabbing, scratching, shoving and striking, according to the records. The report included photos of scratches on the victim's neck and a screenshot of a 911 call log. It also stated that the victim was apprehensive to report the assaults due to the ex-girlfriend's high public profile.

Draper police declined to share further details about the open investigation. An open domestic violence investigation in Draper involving Paul and Mortensen with allegations from both sides was reported on Feb. 24 and Feb. 25.

Separately, the West Jordan Police Department has an open domestic violence investigation into Paul alleging she assaulted Mortensen in 2024, according to a police spokesman. Mortensen told officials that Draper police referred the 2024 incident to the West Jordan Police Department because of jurisdiction. The spokesman declined to provide details of the alleged 2024 incident, including its date, citing the open investigation. West Jordan police are reviewing multiple videos related to the alleged 2024 event to determine details and timelines.

Paul has a prior history with domestic violence charges involving Mortensen. Court records show that Paul was charged in connection with a February 2023 domestic violence incident involving Mortensen. She pleaded guilty in abeyance to an aggravated assault charge later in 2023 related to that incident, according to court records. Four other charges in the case, including assault, criminal mischief and domestic violence in the presence of a child, were dismissed with prejudice.

A video released on March 19 appeared to show Paul attacking Mortensen in the February 2023 domestic violence incident. The release of that video prompted the cancellation of the scheduled March 22 premiere of Paul's season of "The Bachelorette." Reports of multiple open domestic violence investigations involving Paul led the cast of "The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives" to pause filming on season five of the Hulu reality series.

Paul has not been charged in connection with the most recent allegations. She could not be reached for comment, and no attorney representing her has issued a public statement. Under the law, she is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
