NORTHEAST BEXAR COUNTY — The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a female driver who fled on foot after a shooting from a white Volvo SUV that killed a man and hospitalized a woman in northeast Bexar County. A man was killed and a woman was hospitalized after the incident, which authorities are investigating as an active crime scene.

Deputies responded to the shooting at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Monday near the intersection of Crestway Road and Waterside Drive. Upon arrival, deputies found a vehicle with multiple bullet holes. Approximately 10 rounds were fired from the SUV during the incident.

Two of the four people in the vehicle were shot. A man in his 30s was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim's mother, believed to be in her 50s, was taken to a local hospital for treatment after being shot several times. Investigators are questioning a third woman in the vehicle who was not struck by gunfire.

The driver of the vehicle, a woman, fled the scene on foot and has not been located. The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office is deploying drones in a nearby wooded area to locate the driver and determine if she was injured. Deputies are searching for a newer model white Volvo SUV in connection with the shooting. Sheriff Salazar believes the suspect vehicle fled eastbound on Crestway Road toward Kitty Hawk Road.

Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar provided details regarding the driver's involvement in the event. "We don’t believe she (the driver) was actually the shooter," Salazar said. "But she did flee the scene for whatever reason." The sheriff’s office does not have a motive for the shooting.

This investigation occurs against a backdrop of recent violent incidents in the region. According to ksat.com, a man was killed in a shooting on Kitty Hawk Road in the 7400 block near O'Connor Road on the Northeast Side of Bexar County on August 6, 2026. In that earlier incident, deputies from the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office responded to the shooting and said that a man in his 20s was found with multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to ksat.com.

The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office investigates the shooting and is still working to locate the second shooter who fled the scene in a black SUV, according to ksat.com. Broader regional violence has also drawn attention, with PureSource News reporting on 2026-08-08 that the Houston Police Department detained a suspect following a Northwest Houston shooting. Earlier coverage on 2026-05-30 reported one dead and two hurt in a shooting at a party in northeast Harris County, according to the sheriff.

Why It Matters

The investigation hinges on locating the female driver who fled on foot, as authorities do not believe she was the shooter but her departure left key witnesses and evidence unaccounted for at the scene. With approximately 10 rounds fired and no known motive, finding the driver and the suspect vehicle is critical to determining how two of the four occupants were struck. The use of drones in nearby wooded areas shows the immediate effort to establish whether the driver is injured or hiding before she can provide answers.
