BRYAN, TEXAS — Bryan Police Department detectives are investigating the motive behind a fatal shooting that killed a 14-year-old boy and injured four others. The incident involved an exchange of gunfire between two groups on West 17th Street.

The shooting occurred in the 1200 block of West 17th Street on Saturday night. Two groups of individuals began firing at each other during the incident, according to police reports.

D'antwon Miles, a 14-year-old boy, was shot and later pronounced dead at St. Joseph Hospital on Sunday. His death marks the only fatality resulting from the confrontation.

A 42-year-old woman was shot and remains in stable condition at St. Joseph Hospital. She is one of four people who sustained injuries during the exchange of fire.

A 14-year-old girl was shot and has been released from the hospital. These three survivors join the 42-year-old woman as the other victims of the violence.

Three vehicles were struck by bullets during the shooting. Two vehicles were struck in the 1200 block of West 17th Street and one vehicle was struck in the 900 block of Harlem Lane.

Detectives are following up on leads to determine a motive for the shooting. Investigators have not yet identified the specific individuals involved in the two groups that fired at each other.
