PITTSBURGH — Actor Christopher Lambert was hospitalized after collapsing at the Steel City Con in Pittsburgh on Saturday, Aug. 9, 2026, leading to the cancellation of all his scheduled appearances at the event. Convention organizers confirmed on Sunday that Lambert would not return to the convention, reversing an earlier statement that he would attend for autographs.

Lambert left the convention early on Saturday after medical personnel responded to an incident inside the hall. TMZ reported that the actor collapsed while signing autographs. He was taken from the convention hall by ambulance and transported to a local hospital for evaluation.

Steel City Con initially announced on Facebook on Saturday night that Lambert had departed due to a "personal issue." The organization canceled his scheduled photo-op but stated he would return on Sunday for autographs and a delayed photo session, though not his scheduled panel. The convention wrote on social media: Christopher Lambert will be attending Sunday. He will be there at 11.30AM.

A representative for Christopher Lambert attributed the collapse to a combination of exhaustion, lack of sleep the night before, and low blood sugar from not eating enough throughout the day. The representative stated that Lambert's blood sugar dropped because he had not eaten much that day. The representative also said Lambert did not get enough sleep the night before the convention.

Following the incident, a representative stated Christopher Lambert was resting in his hotel room. Lambert is 69 years old and has been actively attending fan conventions in recent years, including events such as Steel City Con and FAN EXPO Chicago.

Lambert was scheduled to attend FAN EXPO Chicago from August 14–16, 2026, following his Steel City Con appearance. It remains unclear whether he will attend the Chicago event as planned.

This incident marks another health-related disruption for Lambert at fan conventions. In March 2025, he canceled an appearance at SciFiWorld in Sweden after suffering a back injury from falling down hotel stairs. The injury required him to avoid travel or movement for a full month under doctor's orders.

Lambert is best known for his role as Connor MacLeod in the 1986 film "Highlander" and as Raiden in the 1995 film "Mortal Kombat." He also starred as Tarzan in the 1984 film Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes and played Methodius in the 2011 film "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance."

Why It Matters

The incident disrupts Lambert's active convention circuit, leaving his upcoming appearance at FAN EXPO Chicago uncertain. This event follows a back injury that forced him to cancel a 2025 Sweden appearance, marking a second health-related interruption for the actor at fan gatherings. Organizers must adjust schedules and refund ticket holders as the 69-year-old recovers from exhaustion and low blood sugar.
