DELAND — Dustin Rose, 19, and Samson Campbell, 18, were found shot to death in a vacant lot on W. New York Avenue. The DeLand Police Department executed a search warrant at a property on Loughton Street on Saturday night.

Police said Rose and Campbell were found with multiple gunshot wounds. Rachel Rose, Dustin's mother, found the bodies of her son and Campbell. She called 911 after finding the bodies.

The two young men were in DeLand to spread the ashes of a family dog. Rose was a student at The Citadel and a member of the South Carolina Army National Guard. Campbell had recently moved to Chicago. Both victims grew up in Volusia County.

The search warrant was executed around 10:30 p.m. The FBI and Volusia County SWAT assisted the DeLand Police Department with the search warrant execution. The search warrant was executed at a home on the 1500 block of Loughton Street. This property is located approximately three miles from the crime scene.

Authorities have not confirmed a direct link between the search warrant and the homicides. Authorities have not disclosed any evidence recovered during the search. No motives or suspects have been determined in the case.
