SANDY SPRINGS, GA. — The Sandy Springs Police Department released dash camera video of a police pursuit on July 24, 2026. The pursuit incident occurred on July 17, 2026.

Sandy Springs officers were assisting Homeland Security Investigations with the arrest of a man wanted on drug charges. The suspect faced federal charges and had ties to a larger criminal organization. The Sandy Springs Police Department (SSPD) was established in 2005 and began operations on July 1, 2006, following a citywide consolidation of law enforcement responsibilities from Fulton County Police.

Dash camera footage shows officers pursuing the suspect and attempting to box in the suspect vehicle. The suspect vehicle hit a concrete barrier. The impact with the concrete barrier caused the rear of the suspect vehicle to rise and land on top of a Sandy Springs Police cruiser. Video shows the cruiser's windshield cracking as the suspect vehicle appears to be pushed back farther.

The suspect attempted to flee on foot after the collision. The suspect was apprehended without further incident. No officers were injured in the incident. In a separate July 2026 incident, Sandy Springs police conducted four successful PIT (plastic injection taser) maneuvers during a high-speed pursuit, though the suspect ultimately evaded capture, indicating prior use of tactical vehicle control techniques.
