NASHVILLE — The Davidson County Election Commission announced on June 25, 2026, that it is mailing new canary yellow voter registration cards to more than 471,000 registered voters. The distribution reflects revised congressional district boundaries approved by the Tennessee General Assembly in May 2026, which the commission used to assign all registered voters to their respective districts.

The August 6 election includes State and Federal Primary, County General, and Oak Hill Municipal contests. This election marks the first major contest in which Davidson County voters participate under the revised congressional district boundaries.

"Our more than 471,000 registered voters should watch their mailboxes for an updated card," Davidson County Administrator of Elections John D. Richardson said. He advised voters to destroy previously issued registration cards and use the new canary yellow card as the official reference for election information. "We want every voter in Davidson County to have accurate information ahead of the upcoming August 6 election."

Richardson noted that the changes depend on individual residences. "Based on their home address, some voters may find they are in the same congressional district; some will have changed." He encouraged all voters to review their new card, noting their assigned political districts and Election Day voting location. Richardson confirmed that the office maintains two copies of the voter database—one with the new district map and one with the previous map.

Early voting for the August 6, 2026, election began on July 17, 2026, at 15 locations in Davidson County. The Early Voting schedule is included with the Sample Ballot mailed to households in early July 2026.
