HIXSON — Five people aboard a Polaris ATV suffered injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Hixson on Sunday morning. The Chattanooga Police Department's Traffic Unit is investigating the crash.

The collision occurred a little before 11 a.m. on Lower Mill Road. The ATV traveled through a parking lot and pulled onto Mill Road in front of another vehicle, striking it.

The driver and all four passengers were ejected from the ATV during the impact. Emergency responders transported the five individuals from the ATV by ambulance to the hospital for treatment of their injuries.

No injuries were reported by occupants of the other vehicle involved in the collision. The specific identities and current conditions of the five injured individuals were not immediately released by authorities.

The incident took place on a road in the Hixson area, a community located north of downtown Chattanooga. The police department's specialized traffic division has taken charge of determining the circumstances that led to the collision between the all-terrain vehicle and the car.
