PAYETTE, IDAHO — Andrea Shaw was indicted on first-degree murder charges in the deaths of her 18-month-old twins, Dallas and Tyson. Dallas and Tyson were found dead in a shared bed on 1 May 2025 in Payette, Idaho.

Prosecutors allege that Shaw suffocated her children. She stated that vaccines caused the deaths of her twins.

A judge revoked her bond, keeping her in jail. District Judge Kiley Stuchlik presided over the bond hearing on 8 July 2026.

The judge stated she viewed her as a threat to her new child. Prosecutors stated that she should not be allowed near any children.

Filicetti requested that her bail be reduced to $100,000 so she could care for her newborn. She had been held on $2 million bail prior to the bond revocation.

Payette County Prosecuting Attorney Michael Duke stated that investigators ruled out environmental causes such as extreme room heat and carbon monoxide poisoning. One of the twins tested positive for rotavirus.

"The state says the children died by suffocation and it's 'the only reasonable explanation for why both would die at the same time, on the same night, in the same room, in the same bed,'" Duke said. "There are only two people who could have been involved in this crime."

"One of them was straightforward and cooperated with law enforcement," he said. "The other changed her story every time it made her look bad, every time there were criminal implications, and she admitted that at the time of death, she was there with the kids."

Duke stated that detectives consulted medical experts during the investigation. "Detectives, with the benefit of three medical doctors, were able to rule out vaccines as a cause of death," he said.

"This is not a vaccine case," a prosecutor said in court. "This is a case where a mother unfortunately has killed her two children," the prosecutor added.

Her attorney is Joseph Filicetti. She appeared in Payette County District Court via video on 2 July 2026.

She has not yet entered a plea to the murder charges. She is 23 years old.

"My medical experts are going to say that this is a classic vaccine reaction and death," Filicetti said. "There's absolutely no way that she did what the state is alleging, and I'll be defending it that way."

"This is certainly a case in search of a crime," Filicetti said. "It's not a crime."

Dallas and Tyson received DTaP, hepatitis A, and influenza vaccines on 23 April 2025. She took the twins to the emergency room on 24 April 2025.

Medical records from the emergency room visit described the twins' symptoms as mild. Medical records show the twins were diagnosed at St. Luke's Fruitland with post-immunization reaction and fever.

Dallas had a temperature of 99 degrees and decreased activity level, while Tyson was described as very active. The twins were sent home from the emergency room without further tests.

The twins reportedly had ongoing issues with diarrhea and lethargy throughout the week before their deaths. She stated in a video interview that the twins had improved by 30 April 2025.

"They were great. That was the only day since those shots that they were active," she said. They were eating fine.

They were drinking out of their sippy cups fine. They were talking normally finally. And they didn't want to sleep all day.

Her mother-in-law stated in a court filing that she and her son had previously experienced adverse reactions to the flu shot. Both parents were home when the children died.

She told investigators she saw one of the children sit up between 1am and 2am when she checked on them. Nathaniel Shaw's account of the events remained consistent, while her account changed multiple times.

She gave birth to her third child via C-section on 25 June 2025. She was arrested on 30 June 2025. Three doctors consulted by prosecutors ruled out vaccines as a cause of death.

Dr. Jake Scott is a clinical infectious disease physician at Stanford who specializes in vaccine science. "This was not a close call," Scott said.

"I can say with confidence what didn't happen here. It was not the vaccines," he said. "These three vaccines are all non-live vaccines. The only established way that any of them causes a death is a severe allergic reaction."
