MINNEAPOLIS — Bruce Springsteen will launch his Land of Hope & Dreams American Tour at Target Center in Minneapolis on Tuesday, opening with "Streets of Minneapolis," a song he released in late January. The musician announced on his website that the first two songs of Tuesday night's concert would be livestreamed for free on YouTube.

"This tour is going to be political and very topical about what's going on in the country," Springsteen said. "Minneapolis and St. Paul, that was the place that I wanted to begin it, and I wanted to end it in Washington."

The song "Streets of Minneapolis" was released during nationwide outcry over the shooting deaths of Renee Good and Alex Pretti by federal officers. Springsteen played a solo version of the song during the national flagship No Kings rally at the state Capitol in St. Paul on Saturday, where the Minnesota State Patrol estimated the crowd at about 100,000 people.

The video released for "Streets of Minneapolis" captured scenes of the city with 3,000 federal officers, showing masked and armed agents in tactical gear. The video shows Greg Bovino, identified as the face of the operation, and 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos wearing a bunny hat and a Spider-Man backpack surrounded by immigration officers. The photo of Liam Conejo Ramos surrounded by immigration officers stirred outrage around the world. The video shows makeshift memorials at the sites where Renee Good and Alex Pretti were killed and clips of their final moments confronting officers, climaxing with footage of thousands of residents in Minneapolis chanting "ICE Out!"

President Donald Trump's administration called the operation its largest immigration enforcement action anywhere in the country. Springsteen and President Donald Trump have long feuded, with Trump calling Springsteen a dried-out prune of a rocker. During his European tour last year, Springsteen criticized the Trump administration.

Springsteen told a New York City audience on March 23 that his tour will head next to Portland, Oregon, and Los Angeles. The Land of Hope & Dreams American Tour is scheduled to end on May 27 in Washington, D.C., where he said he will have a few choice words for the White House. Springsteen previously kicked off his 1984 tour for the album "Born in the U.S.A." in St. Paul.
