HAMILTON COUNTY — The Tennessee Department of Transportation will close the US 27 South ramp to Broad Street on Saturday from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for attenuator repairs. The overnight closure is part of routine infrastructure maintenance aimed at ensuring safety along a key connector ramp in the region.

Tennessee Department of Transportation contract crews will perform the attenuator repairs during the scheduled window. The work falls under TDOT’s Region 3 South performance-based maintenance contract, which includes prescribed maintenance activities for attenuators and covers ramp maintenance across multiple interstates, including the US 27 South ramp to I-24 East.

Signage will be posted to direct drivers through the work zone and help minimize confusion during the overnight restriction. Motorists traveling in the area are advised to plan alternate routes in advance to avoid delays.

Interstate 24 will not be affected by the roadway work on US 27, allowing through traffic on the major corridor to proceed without disruption. The Tennessee Department of Transportation emphasized that the work is weather-dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances cause delays.

Attenuators are critical safety devices installed at the ends of guardrails or in work zones to absorb the impact of colliding vehicles and protect both workers and drivers.
