HOUSTON — The Pepsi National Battle of the Bands is relocating from Houston to Arlington for the 2027 event, ending an 11-year run in the Texas city. The 2027 showcase will take place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington on the weekend of August 27.

The event had been held at NRG Stadium in Houston since its inception, where it became a major annual attraction. According to the Harris County-Houston Sports Authority, the gathering drew more than 55,000 attendees during previous event weekends and generated an estimated $20 million in economic impact for Houston and Harris County.

Derek Webber, executive producer and creator of the National Battle of the Bands, framed the move as a strategic evolution. "This move and partnership represent the next chapter for the Pepsi National Battle of the Bands," Webber said. He added, "As we look toward the future, Dallas provides an incredible opportunity to expand the experience, strengthen community engagement, and continue elevating HBCU culture and excellence on a national stage." Webber also stated, "We’re excited to bring the National Battle of the Bands to AT&T Stadium in Arlington and create an unforgettable experience for fans across the Dallas-Fort Worth region."

Monica Paul, executive director of the Dallas Sports Commission, welcomed the relocation. "The Dallas Sports Commission is proud to welcome the Pepsi National Battle of the Bands to Dallas beginning in 2027," Paul said. She described the event as "a celebration of culture, community, education and excellence that will bring thousands of visitors to our region while showcasing the energy and vibrancy of Dallas on a national stage." Paul added, "We are excited to partner with NBOTB to create an unforgettable experience for fans, students, alumni and visitors from across the country."

Since its founding, the Pepsi National Battle of the Bands has awarded more than $2.4 million in scholarships to participating Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), reinforcing its role as both a performance platform and an investment in student achievement.
