BOERNE, TEXAS — The National Weather Service announced a Flash Flood Emergency for Boerne and south Kendall County until 8:15 p.m. on July 15, 2026. The declaration followed a Flash Flood Warning issued earlier that day for Kendall County, including Boerne, which was scheduled to expire at 4:15 p.m.

The agency described the flash flood situation as a “particularly dangerous situation” and urged residents near Cibolo Creek or its smaller tributaries to “move to high ground.” It also warned drivers to “Turn Around, Don’t Drown if you encounter a flooded roadway!” First responders conducted rescues of two stalled vehicles at the intersection of Herff Road and River Road as floodwaters overwhelmed roadways.

City of Boerne officials responded by shutting down River Road and closing the intersection of Main Street and River Road due to flooding. Chris Shadrock, a City of Boerne spokesperson, emphasized the severity of conditions, stating, “This is a life-threatening weather event.” He added, “I don’t want to mince words about how serious this situation is,” and noted, “We are seeing flood conditions that we have not seen since 2015.”

Shadrock advised residents to avoid unnecessary travel, saying, “Roads all across Boerne are flooded,” and “Roads that don’t typically flood are flooded.” He urged those already in safe locations to remain there: “If you are somewhere safe and not in danger, please stay there.” He also discouraged travel “all across the City of Boerne today until conditions improve.”

In response to the emergency, a temporary shelter was established at the Boerne ISD Central Offices, located at 235 Johns Road. Residents seeking shelter were instructed to enter off Lohmann Street.
