Taylor Swift released a music video for her song "Elizabeth Taylor" featuring footage from the late actress's films and archival clips. The video is initially exclusive to Spotify and Apple Music and will not be uploaded to YouTube until Thursday.

The music video is assembled from hours of footage of Elizabeth Taylor's films and archive clips. Swift does not appear in the video, which includes clips from the films Cleopatra, Father of the Bride, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, A Place in the Sun, Giant, Suddenly, Last Summer, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Julia Misbehaves, and Boom!.

Swift received permission from the Elizabeth Taylor estate to release the song and to use her likeness in the music video. Royalties from streaming the video will go to the estate.

"Role models are pretty hard to come by, but I would say she is one of mine," Swift said on The Elvis Duran Show. "She is always someone that I've looked up to as being this very glamorous, very beloved, but for some reason a polarizing figure, which I found myself in that place, too."

Quinn Tivey, grandson of Elizabeth Taylor, expressed his family's approval of the song. "My family loves the song, and grandma would have loved it, too. I wish she could have heard it," Tivey said. "Taylor Swift not only made a beautiful homage to Elizabeth Taylor, but it feels like she is addressing her directly while invoking her legacy in a way that is dimensional, confessional, honest, and fun. It dances across the trappings of fame and the rollercoaster of falling in love and has so many heartfelt references, from the iconic perfume White Diamonds to her jewellery and, of course, her love of love."

The song contains multiple references to Elizabeth Taylor's life, including lyrics that mention Portofino, the Italian town where Richard Burton first proposed to her and where she spent four of her eight honeymoons. The song also mentions Taylor's fragrance line White Diamonds and the Plaza Athenee hotel in Paris.

At the end of the video, the credits read "©2024 Taylor Swift," confirming that the track was written while on the road with the Eras tour. The song appears on "The Life of a Showgirl," Swift's 12th album and the biggest-selling music release of 2025.
