HYDE PARK — A total of 22,141 people gathered in Hyde Park, London, on Friday afternoon, setting a new Guinness World Record for the "largest gathering of people wearing bald caps." Rapper Pitbull, who headlined the BST festival, participated in the record attempt and was presented with a Guinness World Record certificate before his performance.

Participants wore white shirts, black ties, and aviator sunglasses in addition to their bald caps. Pitbull wore a bald cap to contribute to the official count. The temperature in Hyde Park was 30C (86F) during the event.

Guinness World Records adjudicator Will Munford oversaw the verification process. 400 volunteers checked individuals at the entrance and within the venue, while drone footage assisted 42 additional counters backstage to ensure accuracy. "I'm speechless. Who would have thought a first-generation Cuban would be record-breaking and record-making?" Pitbull said.

Pitbull officially calls his fans "baldies." When asked if he would participate in the record attempt, he replied, "Dale!" The rapper sells official merchandise, including a Mr Worldwide Kit for £40 and bald caps for £10, on his website. Both items were sold out prior to the event.

The trend of fans dressing like Pitbull began in 2021. Podcast host and cultural commenter Jack Remmington posted a TikTok video suggesting that the BST festival's capacity was sufficient to break a world record for people cosplaying as Pitbull. The BST festival has a capacity of 65,000 people. "It's a blessing and an honour to see the baldies in London," Pitbull said.
