TUSCALOOSA — Alabama Shakes released the single "I Feel Hope Coming" on July 10, 2026. The track is from the band's upcoming album, "I Must Be Dreaming."
The album is scheduled for release on August 28, 2026, through Island Records. It is the first Alabama Shakes album since "Sound & Color" in 2015. Previous singles from the album include "Another Life" and "American Dream."
Singer Brittany Howard commented on the inspiration behind "I Feel Hope Coming," stating, "This younger generation makes me feel hopeful because they can see through all the political lies — that song's about holding onto that hope, and refusing to give up." Guitarist Heath Fogg said, "I'm really happy that song exists. It came from such a joyful moment of collaboration, and exemplifies everything I love about this band being reborn."
The current lineup of Alabama Shakes includes Howard, Fogg, and bassist Zac Cockrell. The band performed a reunion concert in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, in December 2024, and toured in 2025. "Another Life" was the band's first new song in over a decade prior to the 2025 tour.
Howard discussed the album title, stating, "There's a double meaning to it. It could be saying, 'I must be dreaming, because the world is so fucking crazy right now.' But it could also mean, 'I must be dreaming, because the world is so incredibly beautiful.' Both those things can be true at once." The album's tracklist includes 11 songs: "Tea Time," "Another Life," "Garden," "I Feel Hope Coming," "Time," "Friends," "Easy," "How Love's Supposed to Go," "Waist Deep," "American Dream," and "Tied to You."
